Privacy Policy - Copy Context

Overview
Copy Context is built with a local-first, privacy-focused approach. The extension saves copied text and its source context on your device so you can search, pin, collect, and re-copy previous clips.
Your data stays in your browser by default. Copy Context does not require an account and does not send your saved clipboard history to external servers.
What data is processed
Copy Context may process and store the following information when you copy text in your browser:
- copied text
- page URL
- page title
- timestamps for when the copy happened
- extension state such as pinned items, collected items, and view preferences
How data is stored
Copy Context stores data locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local.
The extension does not use a remote database, external sync service, analytics backend, or advertising network.
How data is used
This data is used only to provide the extension's core functionality:
- saving recent copied items
- showing where a copied item came from
- letting you search, pin, collect, and delete saved clips
- letting you copy saved clips back to your clipboard
- exporting selected saved clips as notes
Data sharing
Copy Context does not sell personal data.
Copy Context does not share your clipboard history with third parties for advertising, profiling, or unrelated analytics.
Permissions
Copy Context currently requests the following Chrome permissions:
- storage: to save clipboard history and extension preferences locally
- clipboardWrite: to copy a saved item back to your clipboard from the extension popup
- host access on visited pages: to detect copy events and capture the source page URL and title associated with copied text
Sensitive fields
Copy Context is designed to avoid capturing copies from password fields.
No analytics or tracking
Copy Context does not collect:
- analytics data
- usage statistics
- crash reports
- advertising identifiers
- personal account information
The extension does not include any third-party trackers.
Data deletion
You can delete stored data at any time from the extension UI by deleting individual clips or clearing unpinned history.
You can also remove all extension data by uninstalling the extension from Chrome.
